Tydens ‘n onlangse besoek aan sy tuisdorp, Makhanda was die Springbokrugbyspeler, Rosko Specman, by Hoërskool P.J. Olivier aangenaam verras omdat Oudskolier Daniël Retief ‘n pragtige portret van Rosko by die skool se rugbyveld geverf het. Rosko het ‘n foto van homself by dié kunswerk geneem en die volgende daarby op sy Facebook-blad geplaas:

“ – ASPIRE TO INSPIRE – A portrait at one of the local high schools in my hometown. Grahamstown is full of talent. If I’ve done nothing else, I hope to have inspired people that have experienced a similar upbringing or lived in the same, less privileged circumstances as I did to rise above it. It’s not easy and a ‘way out’ is not accessible to everyone. It requires determination and hard work, and not simply settling for what life hands you.

Not everyone is good at sport, or a talented artist, but we all have something that makes us special… a God-given gift that sets us apart. Learn to recognise and tap into that gift. A positive mindset and belief in yourself can take you far. You can create the life you want for yourself if you are willing to do what it takes.”
