Wynberg Boys’ High School welcomed Nick Hamman from 5FM, who officially announced Wynberg as the winners of the Wild Card Category in the Standard Bank 5FM War Cry Challenge.
While we did not take the overall Boys’ School title, the national response ensured Wynberg was recognised for a performance that attracted over 1.4 million views on 5FM’s Instagram platform. As Nick Hamman remarked, “the community, not only Wynberg, not only Cape Town, but all of South Africa, showed up for you guys.”
Beyond the award, this moment reflects something more meaningful. At Wynberg, the War Cry is not simply a performance; it is an expression of spirit, unity, and brotherhood, boys standing together for something greater than themselves.
The scale of the response speaks to the authenticity of that culture. Our War Cries resonated far beyond the school gates, connecting with audiences across the country who recognised the energy and cohesion that define Wynberg.
Nick Hamman’s visit brought a palpable sense of excitement to the campus, but it also affirmed a deeper truth: when Wynberg boys come together with pride and purpose, they create moments that extend well beyond the classroom, the field, or the stage.
We congratulate our Cheerleaders, Spirit Band, and the boys of the school, along with the staff, who continue to build and sustain this tradition. This achievement belongs to the entire Wynberg community.
