Two tennis players from Ligbron Academy of Technology represented Mpumalanga at the South African Schools Tennis Tournament, which took place in Pretoria from 7 – 12 January. Milla Dippenaar was seated nr 2 in the Mpumalanga girls’ U.15 team. Dippenaar, who has been playing tennis since grade two and who was JJ van der Merwe’s nr 1 player last year, succeeded in winning 3 of her 4 single matches. This is an exceptional achievement seeing that she is only U.14 this year. Diego Hernandez was the nr 6 seat in the U/19 boys’ team of Mpumalanga. This was the first time that Diego has qualified for the tournament. He described it as a memorable experience, saying it opened his eyes to the high standard of tennis being played at the tournament.
