Our Staats Pro20 Night League, proudly sponsored by Spur, kicked off on a high note with our clothing ceremony which took place on 15 September 2022. This was an opportunity for all the schools participating to receive their jerseys. It was a great honour for us to have all our sponsors (Spur; Northern-Cape High School and NTLO Signs), Mr Richards (SA’s cricket president) and the members of the cricket union in our presence. Mr Richards left us with the following wise words: “With every opportunity comes great responsibility”. May all the cricketers take these wise words to heart and work hard to make the most out of every opportunity. Our u/13 team have played 5 matches to date.

Staats played their first match against Yorkshire and lost by 6 runs. Eagan Jacobs delivered a man of the match performance scoring a quick 30 and taking one wicket for 12 runs in 4 overs. During the second match the boys suffered a defeat against Eureka. MC Blignault had a stirring performance taking 3 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs.

In the third match against HC Rose, the boys bounced back claiming a 173-run victory. There were a few good performances from the boys, namely: Daniel Feder 54(34) Landon Titus 31(37) not out. This is a very special victory as Landon is still U11. Eagan Jacobs 22(16) With the ball, MC Blignault took 3 wickets for 5 runs from 1.5 overs. The boys claimed another victory beating Laerskool Vooruitsig by 78 runs. With the bat, 2 boys excelled exceptionally, namely: Eagan Jacobs 75(56) not out.

Heath Pinetown 38(47) With the ball, Chris van Wyk claimed 2 wickets for 12 runs from 4 overs. This is
also a very special victory as Chris is still U11. In the fourth match, the boys played against Frank Roro Hub. Staats won the toss and chose the field first. The boys performed well limiting Frank Roro Hub to 87 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Daniel Feder was the best bowler for Staats with 3 wickets for 15 runs from 4 overs. Ziyaad Fritz was the most economical bowler, bowling 4 overs for only 6 runs. Our boys delivered outstanding results reaching 89 for 3 wickets after only 13.2 overs. Daniel Feder was also the stand-out batsman, scoring 36 runs from 24 balls.
We would like to thank the coaches, Mr Rieyaard Alexander; Mr JJ Gouws and Mr De Wet Kruger for all their hard work and determination in getting the boys ready for their matches.

After a slow start, the boys are well on track, achieving 3 good wins after the early disappointments. We wish you all the best with the rest of the league. Thank you for proudly representing Staats on and off the field. We are very excited about the final games taking place at Staats on 4 and 5 November. For more information, please contact Mr De Wet Kruger on 079 377 3628 or 053 831 2035 or via email at sport@staats.co.za.
