Ligbron Academy of Technology’s boy’s hockey teams faced Hoërskool Piet Retief in their Gert Sibande league match last week Wednesday. It was a favourable day for the Liggies with the first team scoring 9-0, the U16’s drawing 0-0 and the U14’s claiming victory with a score of 5 – 0.
The three teams once again drew strength from excellent teamwork and strong offensive play. Their coaches commended them for their resilience, which enabled them to keep the lead on the scoreboards. One player who stood out above the rest, was the first team’s man of the match, Bernard Laage. He contributed most goals and was unstoppable on the field. The U14’s played their first match on their home field and did not disappoint. Their communication on the field and ability to pre-empt their opponents’ game plan secured their victory.
