Rising champs hockey tournament:

The U13 girls braved the road to Bloemfontein in the cold on Wednesday, 15 June to take part in the Rising Champs Hockey tournament. Trembling, the girls played their hearts out and were able to end the evening with a delicious meal and hot shower. Thursday, June 16 after a delicious breakfast, a day filled with lots of hockey and opportunities awaited the girls. At the end of the Round Robin, the girls were in third place. Truida Kestel from Bethlehem was our opponent in the semi-final and in the last minutes of the match we scored two goals that secured us a place in the final. With great excitement in our hearts we faced a strong Eunice team and with the blowing of the final whistle we walked as the runners-up of the astro. It was two days of very good hockey and a lot of excitement. Many thanks to every supporter and parent.

McDonalds Rising Champs hokkie toernooi:

On 15 and 16 June the ANPS U12 hockey girls went to Bloemfontein to take part in the McDonalds Rising champs hockey tournament in spite of the icy cold weather. Die toernooi word elke jaar vir liefdadigheid gehou en hierdie jaar is dit gehou ten bate van die Lesedi Educare and Therapea Kids (a place of safety for girls).

The tournament was held at the St Michael’s school for girls’ astro turf. Daar was altesaam 7 spanne wat vir hierdie afdeling by die toernooi ingeskryf het.

The coach had to hide her anxiety when she saw all the strong teams that they had to compete against.

At the end of this match the score was 0-0 and a penalty shoot out had to take place.

This time, unfortunately, the Eunice girls were stronger and ANPS ended second in the tournament, which is a huge achievement.

Each girl received a silver medal and a gift voucher for a free ice-cream from McDonalds. The busses stopped at McDonalds after the tournament so that the girls could collect their ice-cream.

Gabby, the brand new buffalo mascot, was a huge part of the team’s great spirit and success – we can’t wait to see the furture results that she will inspire!

ALIES BO!

Rising Champs Hockey Tournament:

The U12A and U13A boys took on the icy cold weather in Bloemfontein on the 15th and 16th of June to take part in the Rising Champs Hockey tournament. Both teams played for the first time as a team during this tournament. More than half of the boys played full field for the first time and they played AMAZING. Each team played 6 round robin matches against some of the strongest hockey teams of Bloemfontein. At the end of the round robin matches the U13A team played in the semi-final against Saint Andrew’s U13A and ended with a 0-0 score which led us into a sudden death shoot out which we unfortunately lost, but without a doubt it was one of the most intense matches of the tournament and the boys played their hearts out. The U12A boys enjoyed the tournament and we appreciate the opportunity to grow. It was two days of very good hockey and a lot of excitement. Many thanks to every supporter and parent.
