Huge congratulations to Queen’s College Boys’ High School Chess Club who competed in the provincial round of the Alexander Forbes Battleboards Tournament over the weekend! Competing against 20 schools, Queen’s delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 2nd overall and successfully qualifying for the National Qualifier later this year.

  • Our results on the day: Queen’s 6-1 Paterson High School
  • Queen’s 4.5-2.5 Dordrecht High School
  • Queen’s 7-0 Freemantle Agricultural High
  • Queen’s won by forfeit vs Sixihishe High School
  • Queen’s 6-1 Andrew Rabie High School
  • Queen’s 4.5-2.5 Westering High School

In the final match to determine the top chess school in the province, the boys fought hard but fell just short:

  • Queen’s 2.5-4.5 Merrifield
  • Special mention to:
  • Awothando Ndabambi – won all his games
  • Thapelo Chatima – won all his games
  • Lukhanyiso Njenjesi – undefeated
  • Landile Tlale – undefeated

We are incredibly proud of the way these boys represented the school – a fantastic achievement and we look forward to seeing them compete at the National Qualifier!
