Volksrust High School’s RCL learners from Grades 9 to 12 enjoyed an evening of growth, teamwork and fun during the RCL function held on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. The evening created an opportunity for learner leaders to connect outside the classroom while strengthening important leadership skills.

The function started with an engaging Emotional Intelligence development session, where learners reflected on communication, self-awareness, teamwork and leadership. The session encouraged learners to better understand themselves and those around them, an essential quality for effective leaders within the school environment.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the lively game of charades, where laughter and excitement filled the venue. The Grade 10 RCL group impressed everyone with their enthusiasm and teamwork, and ultimately walked away as the winners of the competition.
Learners also enjoyed delicious boerewors rolls and had the opportunity to socialise and strengthen friendships across grades. The relaxed atmosphere allowed leaders to unwind, celebrate their hard work and build stronger relationships with one another.
