On 31 July 2024, the Volksrust High School Cross Country teams participated in the second HHL cross country league. The team demonstrated their commitment, earning commendable results.

The Junior Girls Team commenced the day’s events with a remarkable performance, securing a respectable third place overall. A standout individual achievement came from Saphira van Aswegen, earning her first bronze medal for the season.

In the highly competitive Junior Boys category the highly motivated team won the second league!!! Asanda Ngwenya emerged as a standout performer, seizing the gold medal in a thrilling race that showcased his exceptional strength and endurance.Thanatswa Ngirande again just missed the podium, finishing in fourth place.

Manqoba Mashini further solidified Volksrust’s dominance in the Senior Boys division by securing another gold medal, this time in the 6 km event. His triumph, amidst fierce competition from 57 other participants, underscored his exceptional athleticism and determination. The Senior Boys team placed a well-deserved second  position in the second league.

Despite challenges posed by scheduling conflicts, the Senior Girls team displayed admirable sportsmanship and determination.As we look towards the future competitions, the team remains poised to build upon their successes and continue making a mark in the HHL Cross-country league and finally the Inter High.
