Bosveld Athletes Run Like the Wind in Port Elizabeth 16 September 2023 – The Cross-Country runners of Laerskool Bosveld Primary had the opportunity to test themselves in the ultimate test against the top runners from across the country as well as an uphill battle against the wild winds of the coast over the past weekend at the Cross Country SA Championships hosted in Port Elizabeth. After practicing for a grueling 6 months, these runners had an honour that many learners might never have the opportunity to experience – to take part at a national level. Not only did they represent Laerskool Bosveld Primary, but they also represented Limpopo in their provincial clothes. However, receiving these red and white bands across a blue background does not come easily: it is the result of hard work and perseverance as they first took part in a total of 5 LIMA Cross Country events throughout the year, ensuring they could qualify for the Limpopo Team.
Taking part on Saturday, the runners of Laerskool Bosveld Primary faced gale-force winds, something which is not a regular occurrence in the bushveld. Although the results are yet to be released, the feedback received is positive, that they performed well, and had an enriching experience. The runners who took part are Cara Christie under 7, Juan-Luc Calitz under 8, Marni Snyman under 10, Ditha Modise under 10, Refentse Chokoe under 10 Pabalo Shonoane under 10, Ledile Thlako under 10, Caleb Mabotja under 10, Blessed Chokoe 13, Koketso Segooa under 13, Mokgadi Maake under 13, Nuan Snyman under 13, and Amo Ntwampe under 13. Their coaches Ms. Erika Swanepoel and Ms. Robynne Viljoen are phenomenally proud of each runner. A replay of the day can be found on DStv Stream or on the SuperSport Schools App.
