The following athletes of Volksrust High School were selected to represent the Gert Sibande District at Mpumalanga trails this Saturday.

* Saphira van Aswegen

* Asanda Ngwenya

* Mangqoba Mashini

Saphira van Aswegen and Mangqoba Mashini earned a bronze medal at the Gert Sibande trials held at Secunda Stadium this weekend and as they’ve only chosen the first 6 athletes among 50-75 runners per events, Asanda have also managed to secure the 6th position in the Gert Sibande trials.

The following athletes were also selected to represent Volksrust destrict and participate at the Gert Sibande Trials:

• Rita-Mari Steyn (9th position)
• Christine Maritz
• Nakisani Mabija (7th position)
• Mphilonhle Bhembe ( 14th position)
• Bayanda Nzukazi who unfortunately fell ill the day before.
