We hope you had a peaceful and refreshing holiday. As we take on the “back nine” of the year, we’re excited to continue with energy, enthusiasm, and determination. Let’s set new personal bests and strive to achieve every goal you’ve set for yourself!

A special warm BSI welcome to our newest student-athlete, Joshua Keatley, who has officially teed off his journey with us in our Junior Academy Golf Program!

 BSI Premier Division 18-hole Medal

Well done to Eric Ncube, for his win in the BSI Premier Division 18-hole medal on Friday 18 July, with a 3-under par 69 on Royal Johannesburg – West Course for his second win of the year. Despite focusing heavily on his studies and career ambitions resulting in fewer tournament appearances Eric has recalibrated to find that perfect balance between education and playing golf. Back on the podium, he continues to inspire with his dedication and love for the game.

We’re thrilled to see him back in form and can’t wait to follow his journey toward golfing prominence. Congratulations, Eric here’s to more wins ahead!

BSI PGA Diploma Lecturer Spotlight – Featuring David Roodt

Continuing our spotlight series on the golf industry experts who lecturer for us on our PGA Diploma program, we introduce a gentleman deeply connected to BSI: David Roodt, who has been lecturing the ‘Managing a Golf Business’ module.  David previously served as a Coach at BSI from 2008 to 2014, after which he has forging an impressive career in golf club management including as General Manager at Glendower GC.

In fact he will soon be taking up an exciting new role as Club Director at one of South Africa’s most iconic and exclusive golfing destinations, Leopard Creek.  We’re sorry to see him go, but wish David and his family every success in this new adventure.  Thank you for your industry insight and mentorship of students over the years.

BSI SRIXON JUNIOR TOUR – GAUTENG NORTH GOLF UNION

Upcoming: BSI Srixon Junior Golf Tour – Gauteng North Leg

We’re excited to announce that the BSI Srixon Junior Golf Tour 2025, in partnership with the Gauteng North Golf Union (GNGU), will take place on Sunday, 10 August 2025, at the prestigious Waterkloof Golf Club.

BSI and Srixon, together with GNGU, are thrilled to welcome all the rising junior golf stars for what promises to be an exciting day of competitive golf, development, and fantastic prizes.

A huge thank you to our valued partners, Srixon Golf, for their unwavering support in promoting and growing Junior Golf in South Africa. Your contribution continues to make a lasting impact on the game and its future.

 MANDELA DAY

Thank you to all our BSI community who dug deep to assist those less fortunate than us and donate to our chosen benefactor, Little Eden.

Our BSI staff had the privilege of visiting Little Eden to deliver donated goods collected by our incredible students and staff.

Rugby Academy

Well done to BSI Rugby Head of Performance, Fanie Kotze, who led the Wasps U13 Rugby Team from Edenvale to compete at the prestigious Rhino Week tournament held at Vaal University of Technology from 16–19 July.

We at Balderstone Sports Institute were proud sponsors of the match shirts for Fanie’s Wasps U13 squad — it was an honour to support such a talented young team and a dedicated coach.
