The third term is synonymous with Eisteddfods’ and competitions and 2023 saw the full return of live events after the pandemic. Our musicians represented our school on many fronts: A Capella, Choir, Instrumental ensembles, Singing, Wind instruments, String instruments, Piano, Guitar and Drumkit. At the Tygerberg Eisteddfod our music learners participated in 33 events. 13 learners obtained honours (80 – 89%) and 15 obtained Highest Honours (90%+).

We are proud to announce that Brackenfell High School has two category winners: Sanmari Fourie won the category for piano compositions by J.S.Bach and Brogan Reis won the drumkit category, for their age groups. The A Capella group and Erin Cozett were also invited to perform at the Prestige Concert of the Tygerberg Eisteddfod.

The String Ensemble: The Brackenfell High String Ensemble, accompanied by Lizelle van Niekerk, obtained 85% at the Tygerberg Eisteddfod! To put this achievement in perspective: This was their first public performance and most of them have less than two years of training.
