It has been another outstanding week for Dundee High School, with our learners continuing to excel across a variety of sporting codes.

Our boys’ cricket team stole the headlines with a commanding 161-run victory over Lincoln Heights High School. Batting first, DHS amassed an impressive 251 in 30 overs, thanks to a superb 65 from Ryno Labuschagne and a well-played 54 by Hamzah Docrat. The bowlers then sealed the emphatic win by dismissing Lincoln Heights for just 90 runs. Dillan Guelpa claimed 4 wickets, while Stuart Talanda added 3 wickets. Ryno Labuschagne was deservedly named Man of the Match for his match-winning performance.

The golf team also enjoyed an excellent outing in Pongola. Stuart Talanda claimed top honours with a brilliant 76 on a par-72 course, while Dhaniel Vlok finished second with a score of 86 shots, highlighting the growing strength of golf at DHS.

Our tennis players made an impressive start to the season at a highly competitive pre-season tournament, producing a string of excellent performances against quality opposition. They competed against Ferrum, NHS, St Dominics and Ladysmith High School.  With a top score of 16 points, the team displayed resilience, skill and determination throughout the tournament.

The school’s chess team also continued its impressive form, once again demonstrating strategic brilliance and composure as they added another strong performance against 64 other schools in an online tournament – Alex Forbes’ Battle of the Boards.It has truly been another memorable week for DHS with exciting momentum building as the winter sporting season continues.
