On a sweltering Saturday afternoon, the fierce Maritzburg derby between Maritzburg College and St Charles lived up to its reputation, delivering a thrilling contest packed with intensity and standout performances.Maritzburg College struck first, asserting early dominance through tighthead prop Alande Ngubane, who powered over from close range to open the scoring. It marked an impressive milestone for Ngubane, as the try was his 10th of the season — a remarkable achievement for a front-row forward.

St Charles responded with flair, getting onto the scoreboard thanks to a brilliantly executed kick pass that opened the College defence and led to a well-taken try. Despite this moment of creativity, they struggled to contain a relentless College side.The standout performer of the day was undoubtedly Theo Boshoff, who delivered a sensational display by crossing the try line four times.
