Public Speaking

Aviation

ANJA HATTING, a Grade 11 learner at Curro Somerset West successfully completing her Radiotelephony Operators License. Anja has been working towards obtaining her Private Pilot License and has successfully completed a number of examinations and practical assessments. The Aviation Radio Operators License is not an easy test to do, but Anja has passed this test with flying colours. Anja is already an accomplished glider pilot and is making giant strides towards her goal of becoming a commercial pilot.

Tennis

Matt Lekay, a Grade 9 learner at Curro Somerset West, has been selected for the SA High Schools under 15 tennis team. Matt has been invited to join the South African schools team for a weeklong trip to London in the United Kingdom that will leave on Thursday, 27 June.  The tour will include a match and an opportunity to watch Wimbledon action.

Scouts

Christopher Hapgood-Strickland, a Grade 12 at Curro Somerset West, is a member of the 1 st Strand Scouts and has completed one of several projects on the challenging journey towards becoming a Springbok Scout. He still has to complete 2 hikes, a camp and a community service project as part of the journey and upon completion, will earn his Springbok Colours in Scouts.
