4 Athletes from Volksrust High School qualifies for SA’s

The Mpumalanga Athletics Championships recently concluded, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of athletes from various schools across the province. Among the participants were six outstanding athletes from our school, whose remarkable performances have garnered attention and acclaim. Notably, three of these athletes have achieved the remarkable feat of qualifying to represent the province in the upcoming national athletics meeting to be held in Paarl, Western Cape. This achievement is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the rigorous training provided by our school’s athletics program
Xian Meyer. Xian demonstrated exceptional speed and technique in both the 100 m and 100 m hurdles races, securing first place in both events at the Mpumalanga Athletics Championships. His remarkable performances earned him a well-deserved spot to represent the province in the national athletics meeting.
Khetho Thwala: Khetho Thwala demonstrated exceptional agility and speed in the 110 m hurdles event, competing fiercely against tough opponents. His indescribable speed secured his place in the Mpumalanga team.

Matthew MacDonald: Matthew showcased his strength and technique in the shot put event, delivering impressive throws that earned him recognition among the top competitors and secured him a gold medal as well as a well-deserved spot in the Mpumalanga Athletics Team.
We would also like to congratulate Luyandah Magubane from Elangwane High School who’s been participating in our school for the past 5 years. Luyandah qualified not only in the 200 m, but ran a breathtaking 400 m race and secured his place in the Mpumalanga team.
The participation of our school’s athletes in the Mpumalanga Athletics Championships has been nothing short of exemplary. The remarkable achievements of Xian Meyer, Khetho Thwala, Matthew MacDonald and Luyandah Magubane in qualifying to represent the province at the national athletics meeting in Paarl, Western Cape, stand as a testament to their dedication, talent and the support provided by our school’s athletics program.
