Top achievements by Monument Primary School athletes.On 1st and 2nd September 38 of Monument Primary School’s athletes took part in the KZNCSSA Championships held at the Msunduzi stadium in Pietermaritzburg. It was an amazing, well organized event and our athletes did exceptionally well. Of our 38 athletes that represented Monument Primary, 30 athletes were selected to be part of the KZN team, where they will take part in the National SACSSA championships on the 29th and 30th of September 2023. Our athletes won 53 medals overall with 24 Gold medals, 17 silver medals and 12 Bronze medals. The following athletes received medals:
- Zabby Buquane – Bronze
- Misokuhle Malishe – Bronze
- Lwandiswa Sithole – Bronze
- Clayton Kruger – Bronze
- Azile Hlophe – Bronze
- Cebokazi Ngwenya – Bronze
- Leané Lombard – 2 Bronze
- Prince Sibeko – Silver
- Connor McMaster – Silver
- Keaton McMaster – Silver
- Asiphe Mdlolo – Silver
- Esethu Msibi – Bronze and Silver
- Tayde de Bruyn – Bronze and Silver
- Anathi Mpungose – 2 Bronze and Silver
- Luhan Senekal – Gold
- Hendré Fourie – Gold
- Francois Koen – Silver and Gold
- Jadon Kruger – Silver and Gold
- Zane Lombard – Silver and Gold. Zane also won the 9 and under Victrix Lodourum for the highest overall points for her 4 events and was placed in the top 20 girls’ athletes for her performance in the 600m.
- Thandolwethu Madonsela – 2 Silver and Gold
- Melandi Lombard- Silver and 2 Gold
- Ahlea van der Merwe – 2 Silver and 2 Gold
- Lubanzi Mdladla – 3 Gold
- Siyadumisa Msibi – 3 Gold
- Siyanda Lushaba – 2 Gold Siyanda was one of the top 20 boys’ athletes for his performance in the boys under 13, 200m.
- Reané Campher – 4 Gold Reané was also one of the top 20 girls’ athletes for her performances in the girls under 13, 100m and 200m.
- Luné Coetsee 2 Silver and 2 Gold. Luné broke two records in this championships one for the turbo javelin and the other for shotput girls under 11. She also received the junior Victrix Lodorum trophy and the overall best performance trophy for her shotput, obtaining 1000 points for this event. This is the highest points obtained by an athlete for a single event over the two days.
Well done to all these athletes you really made Monument proud. A special thanks to the organizers of this event Clyde Kinloch and his team who worked hard to make this an exceptional event as it was well planned, executed and therefore brilliant.
