The inaugural theatrical production of College’s 160^th year celebrations is Reginald Rose’s 12 Angry Men. Originally conceived for television, the show lends itself to an intimate performance. The play deals with the deliberations of twelve jurors on a hot summer afternoon, who must decide the fate of a young man facing the death penalty for killing his father. The audience becomes privy to the thoughts, prejudices and pre-conceptions of a diverse group of men, and witnesses how our experiences often colour our current decisions. The cast remain on stage throughout the play; challenging the young performers who must fully imbibe their characters in order to sustain an authenticity during the two-hour performance.

12 Angry Men will be performed in-the-round in College’s historic Victoria Hall. The choice of this theatrical style and venue allows for a feeling of gravitas and authenticity, while the proximity of the performers and audience creates a sense of intimacy and involvement in the action. The director and cast aim to create an immersive theatrical experience seldom seen in live performance.
