Pearson High School’s excellent performance at Merrifield 1st team tennis festival

Many of the top schools in the province arrived in East London on Friday to participate in the Merrifield 1st team tennis festival. The tournament has been running for 17 years and for the first time in its history a girls section was included. The teams thrashed it out playing some top quality tennis! In the boys section Pearson High School came out tops with victories over: Merrifield (5-1), St Andrews (5-1), Marlow (5-1) and Kingswood (6-0). The following Pearsonites received awards for being the top player in their respective position:
- Position number 1: Brandon Rieseberg
- Position Number 3: Keaton Holm
- Position Number 4: Zack Griesel
The girls section was extremely closely contested with a game count needed to determine who moved through to the final. Clarendon school for girls and Merrifield College came out tops in their group with Clarendon taking the honours winning the tournament with the following results: beat Port Alfred 6-0, Beat Stirling 6-0, Beat Kingswood 3-3 (won on a game count), Beat Merrifield 5-1.
