Ewan Kruger (15), a Grade 10 in Curro Durbanville High School, represented South Africa at the Fencing Junior African Championships 2023, held in Accra, Ghana from 15 to 21 February 2023. He competed in the following events:

• Men’s Epee Under 20 Individual: He placed 6th out of 22 participants from 8 countries, which earned him his opening position on the FIE International ranking table.
• Men’s Epee Under 20 Team: The Under 20 Team managed a 3rd place (Bronze medal).
• Men’s Epee Under 17 Individual: He placed 3rd out of 17 participants from 6 countries (Bronze medal), which is an improvement of 2 places from the previous year.
• Men’s Epee Under 17 Team: The Under 17 Team placed 2nd (Silver medal).
