Ndihuho Vhengane, from Alberton High, chosen for the U17 Gauteng netball squad that will take place during July school holiday in Witbank.
Ndibuho Vhengane, 17, is a young lady who thrives to do more, inspire and convict change. She goes to Alberton High School and has been attending there since the beginning of her high school career.
She claims, “Alberton High has seen the talent in me and has embraced me for who I am, helping me find my voice and mould myself into the person I am meant to be.”
Her story begins back in 2019, where she began to hope and wonder what the world entails for her but not long after she planted her feet in the netball department. She worked hard and with the help of her coaches made it far.
She represented Gauteng in the All Ages Tournament that very year, claiming the title “Second Best GoalAttack U14 in South Africa 2019”. Later that year, her school awarded her with the “Best Junior Netball Player” Award. In the years that followed she had hard time finding her feet after an injury but continued to participate in netball, athletics, and culture and take on a leadership position at her school.
In the current year, the efficacious young scholar, made her name in the athletics department by her amazing performance for the season. She is also the fastest U17 sprinter and highest U17 jumper in her school, after a long season of dedication and commitment. Her drive and long roll of achievements did not end there.
Ndibuho took her netball career to a whole new level for her age and acquired a C+ license in Umpiring which allowed her to be a Netball official at Alberton High School. She also took it upon herself to represent her school’s netball, yet again, in the U17 Gauteng Netball Squad.
She continues to praise her school, “Alberton High has helped me greatly with everything thus far, in my netball career and I can’t thank them enough for having a fundraiser at John Dory’s, The Glen on the 4 of May 2022. They saw a light in me and allowed me to shine brighter than ever before in every department of my life. I would also love to pass a special thanks to Ms Barkley and Mrs Posthumus for believing in me and continuously cheering me on even in the face of turmoil.”
The daring young lady continues embracing netball and thrives to inspire those who come after her. She works a part time job as an umpire at the Alberton Action Arena and works full time at making her mark. She has made her community, school, friends and most of all her family proud.
