On 8 March 2025, Volksrust High School faced Sarel Cilliers High School from Glencoe in a competitive rugby encounter. While the results were mixed, the matches showcased the determination, teamwork, and resilience of our players.

The junior teams delivered impressive performances, setting a positive tone for the day. The U14 team secured a 15-7 victory, with Man of the Match Thenjwa Msane playing a crucial role. The U15 team followed with a 36-24 win, demonstrating excellent running rugby, and Sabelo Ngwenya was named Man of the Match. The U16 team faced a tough challenge, but despite their 5-43 loss, Man of the Match Yamkela Malotshwa stood out for his effort and commitment.

The senior teams encountered strong opposition but fought hard throughout. The 2nd team lost 0-43, with Man of the Match Thato Molapo giving a determined performance. The 3rd team, despite a 12-43 defeat, showed great spirit, with Halalisani Mbatha earning Man of the Match honors. The 1st team, facing a highly skilled opponent, managed to score three tries but struggled defensively, leading to a 19-90 loss. However, Sothando Sangweni impressed with his effort and was named Man of the Match.

While some results did not go in our favour, the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by all our teams were commendable. Each match provided valuable lessons, and our players will only grow stronger from the experience. Well done to all the teams—we look forward to building on these performances in the matches ahead!
