In a beautiful assembly held at St Teresa’s Senior Primary School in Rosebank on Monday, 27 January 2025, the Grade 4 class of 2025 and each of our new girls were officially welcomed into the Senior Primary phase. The assembly was a heartwarming celebration that brought together pupils, teachers, parents, and guardians to mark this significant milestone in the Rosies’ journey. The event, centred around the theme “Stepping Up, Growing Together,” symbolised the beginning of a new chapter for our Grade 4 pupils as they embraced the responsibilities and opportunities of Senior Primary. The School’s 2025 theme, “Bee-You,” was woven throughout the assembly, encouraging the pupils to celebrate their superpowers while contributing to the shared community spirit of St Teresa’s School.

One of the highlights of the assembly was the presentation of the Senior Primary Rosie badges. In a touching moment, the Grade 4 pupils were called forward to receive their badge from their Grade 6 Guardian, a mentor assigned to guide and support them during their transition. This symbolic gesture emphasised the School’s Mercy ethos and values of kindness, collaboration, and mentorship. Another standout moment was the ringing of the ceremonial bell, a special gift from the Grade 7 class of 2024. Each Grade 4 Rosie had the opportunity to ring the bell, signifying the start of their Senior Primary journey and their commitment to living out the school’s vision: “To inspire hearts and ignite a lifelong love for learning, rooted in faith, kindness, and excellence.”

The assembly also paid tribute to the school’s rich heritage and its founder, Catherine McAuley, the Sister of Mercy who dedicated her life to education and compassion. In an inspiring address, the Rosies were reminded of her wisdom: “We should be shining lamps, giving light to all around us.” This message resonated deeply as the pupils embraced their new roles with pride. Senior Primary Principal Mrs Lindsey Verster commended the Grade 4s for their enthusiasm and eagerness to take on the challenges of Senior Primary. “Today, we celebrate you and the promise and potential that each of you brings to our school community. Always remember to ‘Bee-You’ and let your unique light shine,” she said.
