The top achieving fundraisers were announced at the school’s glittering Debutantes and Squires Ball. 49 learners and their parents actively participated in a wide range of fundraising activities that were coordinated by the school. These included a golf day, the school’s Spring Market, various raffles, shadow servings at John Dory’s and ticket sales for on-stage performances like the Barnyard.

The Rand Park Debutantes and Squires programme is run annually as a voluntary programme. Learners are eligible to join at the start of their Grade 10 year and are required to raise a minimum amount in order to attend the Ball at which the top fundraisers are recognised and the parents and learners are thanked for their hard work and service to the school.

Learners may also work together in small groups to raise funds. The group that raises the highest amount wins a special prize for their efforts. This year’s top group award was presented to Georgia Thackeray, Alana Mitton and Carmen Smith

Principal, Mr Alan Wilke, congratulated the debutantes and squires on an outstanding achievement. “We are very grateful for the funds that have been raised and extend a special thank you to the parents and staff for supporting, guiding and keeping the learners motivated through the year.”

Mrs Jenny van Rensburg, an educator at Rand Park High School who has been involved with coordinating the fundraising programme since 1998 was also thanked for her immense contribution to the school. She has been involved with raising R8 500 000 for the school through the Debutantes and Squires programme and will be retiring at the end of 2025.
