Penryn College proudly hosted the 9th annual edition of the Penryn Mbombela Rugby Challenge at the world class Mbombela Stadium! We were thrilled to partner with Standard Bank as our event sponsor and Bossa Restaurant Nelspruit as the 1st Team kit sponsor. Over two action-packed days and night, the stadium came alive with rugby spirit, the vibrant sounds of our College Marimba band, and a fantastic selection of food vendors. A huge congratulations to all the winning teams and Man of the Match award recipients! A special thank you to Mr Monaheng Sililo from Beaulieu College, Johannesburg for bringing your 1st Team all the way to Nelspruit. Behind the scenes, many dedicated individuals made this event a success. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:

  • Mr. Mike Eisen – Executive Head
  • Mr. Xolani Grootboom – Head of College Sports
  • Mr. Dean van der Merwe – Coordinator of College Rugby and 1st Team Rugby Coach
  • Mr. Keagan du Preez – MC
  • Mr. Pieter van der Schyff – Tech Table
  • Mr. Hein van Bergen – AV
  • Mr. Roelf Kotze – Mbombela Stadium Management

A special mention to Mr. Tony Steven-Jennings and his team (Facilities), Mrs. Mandy Barnard and her team (Marketing) and our incredible PPA, led by Mrs. Stephanie Nwafor, for their tireless efforts. We also appreciate the outstanding support from our contractors and service providers, including AVS Sound Systems, SuperSport, HH Photography and Design, Capitol Caterers, and Jeanette and her team at Penryn. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event spectacular—we can’t wait for next year which promises to bring in more schools from other Provinces and the SADC region!
