Lannique Graham, a Grade 12 learner from Ligbron Academy of Technology and resident of Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, has achieved outstanding success in the sport of tentpegging. As captain of the Northern KZN U21 A Tentpegging Team, she proudly represented KwaZulu-Natal at the Interprovincial Championships held on 6 October 2025 at Jacobsdal.

Tentpegging is an equestrian sport that tests precision, speed, and horsemanship. Riders gallop at full speed while using a lance or sword to pick up small pegs from the ground — a true display of balance, timing, and teamwork between horse and rider. Lannique’s dedication and skill earned her a bronze medal in the “Ring and Peg” event at the South African Championships held from 8 to 10 October 2025. Her exceptional performance led to her selection for the National Protea Girls Tentpegging Team, a proud moment for both her province and her club, Normandien Tentpegging.

With nine years of riding experience since the age of nine, Lannique continues to balance her passion for equestrian sport with her academics. Next year, she plans to pursue an LLB degree at the University of Pretoria. Her discipline, sportsmanship, and determination make her a shining example of youth excellence and South African spirit.
