What an incredible achievement for William Lloyd Primary School karateka Noah Demas and Yuri Smith! Their Team Kata — a highly disciplined three-member karate team — has been nominated as Youth/Junior Sports Team of the Year at the prestigious Cape Winelands Sport Council Awards. This remarkable nomination places them among the top four teams across the entire Cape Winelands District Municipality, an honour reserved for only the very best. To be recognised at this level is a true testament to their hard work, commitment, and outstanding performance throughout the year.

Adding to this already impressive accomplishment, their Kata team is currently ranked 2nd in South Africa a phenomenal national standing that reflects countless hours of focused training, exceptional discipline, and seamless teamwork. Team Kata demands precision, unity, strength, and perfect synchronisation, and these young athletes have clearly demonstrated excellence in every aspect of the sport.

We are especially proud that two members of this exceptional team are learners of William Lloyd Primary. They represent our school with integrity, passion, and determination, inspiring their peers to strive for greatness in both sport and academics. This nomination is not only a celebration of talent, but also of perseverance, resilience, and the power of teamwork. Congratulations, Noah and Yuri, on this well-deserved recognition.
