On the afternoon of Thursday, the 29th of September, our school lost an angel. Sarah Kruger was a Grade 12 learner who’d just finished writing her Grade 12 Preliminary Exams the week before she passed. Sarah was a Club 13 member, meaning she had attended the Hudson Park from pre-primary right through to Grade 12. She was also a member of our prefect body, captain of the First Aid team, an avid photographer and member of the girls’ 1st water polo & girls’ 1st hockey teams. She was also an SANBS Peer Promoter, encouraging her schoolmates to donate blood.
But Sarah wasn’t only deeply involved at school. Being the golden-hearted earth angel that she was, Sarah was an incredibly dedicated CHOC (Childhood Cancer) volunteer and played an integral part in supporting this NPO and it’s very worthy cause. And she loved animals as much as she loved her fellow humans, raising money, collecting pet food, blankets, etc. for numerous local animal welfare organizations. Sarah was a member of the East London Port Rex Lions Cub programme and received two of the highest accolades from the programme and the organization for her work in the human and animal communities.
