Bethlehem, February 8 – In a display of endurance, speed and excellence, Witteberg High School’s athletes left their mark at the Granveld Athletics Meet at Goble Park on February 8. The event, known as one of the highlights of the athletics calendar, saw a dazzling display of talent, with a total of 171 medals bagged by the school. This achievement includes 62 gold medals, 60 silver medals, and 49 bronze medals.

Records Improved

The excitement of the day was further fueled by an impressive 16 records being broken. Among these records, Gerhard Bossert, a rising star, played the main role by breaking three records.

The records that were improved include the following:

• Morapedi Masejane: Boys under 17 100m with a time of 10.87

• Gerhard Bossert: Boys u.17 1500m with a time of 04:07.38
• Gerhard Bossert: Boys under 17 3000m with a time of 08:58.49
• Miecke Lombard: Girls u.15 1500m Hurdle with a time of 05:38.20
• Illne Myburgh: Girls U17 2000m Steeplechase with a time of 08:59.65
