Curro Hermanus swimmers took part in the Western Cape Long Course A Champs

The following four Curro Hermanus leaners took part in the Western Cape Long Course A Champs held at the University of Western Cape’s 50 metre indoor swimming facility from 5 – 9 December 2024: Primary School: Storm Bircher, Ben Jooste and Mienke van der Bank High School: Sam Pullock The qualifying times for the A Champs are not easy to achieve and the swimmers who do qualify have to compete at a very high standard against the best swimmers in their age groups in the Western Cape (and in this case even beyond). These swimmers worked very hard throughout the year to qualify, and that hard work paid off at the champs. In total the learners swam 25 prelims and 1 final and of those, Ben swam 7 events and achieved a perfect score of 7 personal bests, Storm and Mienke both swam 5 events, 3 of which were personal bests and Sam entered 8 events with 5 personal bests, a 3rd place finish in the boys 15 year old 50m freestyle preliminary event and 4th place in the final, all against some tough competition. We are very proud of all of our swimmers and are extremely grateful to coach Stefan for all of his hard work and dedication that he puts into the daily training and also at the gala.
