An outreach of the arts by Lady Grey Arts Academy
Being the only Arts school in the Eastern Cape and only 1 of 4 Arts schools in the country, the Lady Grey Arts Academy reaches out to assist with promoting and developing the love and education of the different art forms.
Willowvale SSS:
On the 20th of July, Mr. Johan Hattingh set off to Willowvale to go and assist the grade 10 to 12 Dramatic Arts students of Willowvale SSS. The workshop, which lasted for three days, focussed on curriculum content and the development of programmes for the grade 12 practical examinations.
The Lady Grey Arts Academy also donated a huge amount of material to the school; including scripts, rubrics, notes on the different plays that are studied in the grade 10 to 12 classes and history notes regarding the different genres that are explored in the curriculum.

Students attended the classes non-stop until late in the evenings while the teachers also received training. The grade 12 students had to perform their programmes the Saturday morning. The discipline and dedication that the students showed was highly commendable.
During the previous school holiday, Willowvale SSS was vandalised and in result the school now has no electricity and is struggling to function properly. However, the students and teachers shine through adversity and the talent and discipline, that the students showed, is admirable.
The grade 12 practical trail examination will take place in a few weeks and now they have the skills to perform at the best of their abilities. This project was a collaboration between the Department of Education, convened by Ms Phila, J Nzama and mr T Songabe and the principal of Willowvale SSS, Ms N Nokwei. We want to wish the Dramatic Arts teacher of Willowvale SSS, Mrs Ivy Dlova, and her assistant all of the best.

Reamohetse Articon:
On the 28th and 29th of July, the Lady Grey Arts Academy was also given the opportunity to extend its knowledge and play host to a delegation of teachers and representatives from the Free State Department of Education. The aim of this visit was for the Reamohetse Articon, a new Arts school in Botshabelo near Bloemfontein, to do research on the art subjects, as well as the how the administration of an arts school works.
The delegation consisted out of Mister Khauhelo Kanapi, the principal, Mrs.Andri Heydenreich, senior education specialist in SYRAC and VEI section of the Motheo district of the Free State, and Ms Lallie du Toit (senior education specialist) from the same department. The teachers were Mr Moiloa Shai (Dance) Mrs Shezi (Dramatice Arts), Ms Dihlabi (Design) and Mr Mabele who is a student teacher. They all had an informative and educational workshop, hosted by the respective Arts teachers from the Lady Grey Arts Academy. An exchange program between our two schools is in the pipeline. Education is an Art.
