SA Short Course National Championships 2022

Curro Durbanville Aquatics recently competed at the SA National Short Course Championship in Pietermaritzburg from 11 – 14 August 2022

Curro Durbanville had 7 swimmers represent the club and each swimmer swam phenomenally. Swimmers who competed were Johan Malan, Christiaan Kriegler, Caellum Olkers, Joshua Mettler, Tane Putter, Mia vd Merwe and Joanica Kriegler.

The swimmers managed to swim a total of 32 Personal Best times, swam in 24 finals, received 5 Gold, 10 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Curro Durbanville Aquatics finished 6th overall out of 35 clubs that competed, with our woman finishing 4th.

Joanica Kriegler had some standout performances in the Women’s Multi-Class S10 division breaking the South African records in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle and breaking the 200m Individual Medley record with more than 43 seconds.

This group of youngsters are starting to make waves in the swimming community and are names to watch out for in the future of swimming.
