Every year, some of Swellendam High School’s learners participate in the Grahamstown English Olympiad. There are 2 categories:Home Language and First Additional Language. This year we are proud of 16, the most yet, of our students who took part in the competition. We want to congratulate both Sarah Flores, Grade 9 HL, and Matthys Lourens, Grade 12 HL, for achieving a bronze award. A big congratulations to Anelka van der Vyver, who received a silver award for the Grade 12 FAL. Two of our Swellies deserve some extra praise for receiving a gold award! Limile Flathela, Grade 12 FAL, and Maia Nel, Grade 12 HL, who made the Swellies proud!  We are also proud of the 6 other students who achieved a ‘Merit’.  This competition is a wonderful opportunity to broaden your horizons and to challenge yourself. We encourage everyone with a love for literature and writing to participate next year.
