Volksrust High School Dominates Winter Sports Clash against Pionier High School

On Saturday, 16 March, Volksrust High School asserted its dominance in the Winter Sports Clash against Pionier High School on their home turf. The competition featured a variety of sports, with Volksrust’s first teams excelling in a series of matches.
In netball, the players shone with impressive performances. Masana Shivambu was named the Player of the Game for the U14 team, while Lethu Jele and Zama Ngwenya were the Players of the Game for the U15 and U16 teams respectively. Nina du Preez was also recognized as the 2nd Player of the Game. The 1st team secured a convincing victory with a score of 27-19, with Senamile Khumalo singled out as the Player of the Game.
In rugby, the U15 team triumphed with a narrow victory of 27-24, with Olwethu Mkwanazi crowned as the Man of the Match. The U16 team also delivered a strong performance, with Oarabile Lekalakala and Banele Shabalala shining as Men of the Match respectively. The first rugby team clinched the game with a score of 28-24, with Khetho Thwala named as the Man of the Match.
The hockey field was also a scene of great achievement for Volksrust High School. In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the U15 girls’ team secured a narrow victory with a scoreline of 1-0. The standout performer for this match was Amahle Mkwanazi, who was named the Player of the Match. The U16 girls’ encounter ended in a gripping draw with both teams scoring 2 goals apiece. Chrizaan Pretorius was hailed as the Player of the Match. Another highlight of the day was the victory of the 2nd girls’ team, who triumphed with a scoreline of 2-1. Nashia Moola’s stellar performance earned her the title of Player of the Match. Furthermore, the 1st girls’ team delivered a commanding performance, securing a convincing win with a score of 3-1. Siyamthanda Matlala’s exceptional skills and contributions earned her the well-deserved accolade of Player of the Match. The first boys’ team achieved an impressive score of 13-0, with Armand Viljoen being designated as the Player of the Match.

Their discipline was excellent and their conduct made the school proud.
