St Teresa’s High School in Rosebank proudly hosted a hugely successful U14 & U15 Catholic Schools’ Netball Tournament on Saturday 13 May on their new multi-sport Astroturf facility for tennis, hockey and netball. The tournament was organised by Tessa Shellard, Director of Sport at St Teresa’s School and was run most efficiently by the Sports Department.

Fifteen teams participated in the U14 division and eighteen teams in the U15 division. Both age groups were divided into three pools with each school in the respective pools playing against one other. Once these matches were played, cross pool playoffs took place so as to ascertain tournament positions for every school. Both St Teresa’s U14 and U15 teams finished 2nd in their respective pools initially. After playoffs, the U14’s finished in 5th position out of fifteen schools and the U15’s in 4th place out of eighteen schools. We are super proud of their achievements! The final results were as follows:

A fine standard of netball was played by all and although the games were competitive, there was great camaraderie between the players and the teams. All teams are commended on the spirit in which they played. Food and refreshments were sold by our amazing Parent Teacher Association (PTA) who were ably assisted by learner volunteers who helped set-up and sell food and also scored on each of the six courts.

The success of the tournament can be contributed to a superb team effort by all parties involved – the Sports Department, the Ground Staff, the PTA, the support of our Principal, Mrs Elsa de Bod and all the parents and players. Special thanks to all the coaches and umpires from the participating schools for the role they played on the day. We look forward to hosting this Tournament again in 2024!
