In a remarkable achievement, Sduduzo Mtalane (Grade 12) has been awarded the prestigious gold level in the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment. This honour is the highest level of recognition in the programme, which forms part of the internationally acclaimed Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

The President’s Award challenges young people to set and achieve goals across four key areas: community service, skills development, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys. At gold level, candidates must also complete a residential project, demonstrating commitment, resilience, and leadership. Throughout his journey, Sduduzo showed exceptional dedication and perseverance. From contributing meaningfully through volunteer work in his community, to developing new skills and participating in physically demanding challenges, he embodied the values of service, determination, and personal growth. His successful completion of the Gold Award during his Matric year makes the achievement even more commendable, as he balanced the rigorous demands of school with his award commitments.
