Reddam House Class of 2024 delivers 1,178 distinctions, 97% BD pass rate and 58 subjects on the IEB’s Top 1% subject list

The Inspired Education Group is proud to announce the stellar performance of the Reddam House Class of 2024 in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. Across South Africa, Reddam House matriculants have achieved 1,178 subject distinctions, representing an average of 2.44 distinctions per student. These results affirm Reddam House’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation in education, and holistic development. Reddam House has a portfolio of eight schools in three provinces across South Africa. One remarkable student, Dux Scholar Ruth Kesene from Reddam House Umhlanga, excelled with 10 distinctions, achieving 97% for Mathematics.

Academic highlights:

  • 1,178 distinctions achieved by 485 students – a remarkable average of 2.44 distinctions per student
  • 143 students attained four or more distinctions (29%).
  • 21% of students achieved an A average.
  • 62% of students earned either an A or B aggregate.
  • A remarkable 97% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate.

IEB rankings

Within the IEB’s list of achievers in the Top 1% of subjects, 44 Reddam House students achieved this prestigious national ranking in a total of 58 subjects. The top achievers were Julia Monk from Reddam House Constantia, Walther de Bruin from Reddam House Umhlanga and Mirela Hoffman from Reddam House Bedfordview, who each achieved a 1% ranking in three subjects. Sofia Bassios and Abigail Bester from Reddam House Constantia; Caitlyn Lourens from Reddam House Durbanville; Taalia Sheoprosad from Reddam House Helderfontein; Vincent Bouchard from Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard; and Kent Allan, Amber Latten, and Kezia Walton from Reddam House Bedfordview achieved a 1% ranking in two subjects. Thirty-three students achieved a ranking in the top 1% in one subject.

Five students achieved a national ranking within the top 5% in six or more subjects, placing them on the IEB Outstanding Achievement List. They are Mirela Hoffman from Reddam House Bedfordview; Abigail Bester, Kiara Bester and Julia Monk from Reddam House Constantia; and Ruth Kesene from Reddam House Umhlanga.

Seven students – Kent Allan, Madison Ferrãó, and Kezia Walton from Reddam House Bedfordview, Leila Hibling from Reddam House Constantia, Molebogeng Madalane from Reddam House Waterfall, Caitlyn Lourens from Reddam House Durbanville and Pirash Baijnath from Reddam House Umhlanga – were listed on the IEB’s Commendable Achievement List for achieving a national ranking within the top 5% in five subjects.

Top achievers

  • Reddam House Ballito: Produced its best results yet with 41% of students earning an A average and a school-wide average of 76%. Aaminah Vally achieved eight distinctions and Dhiya Singh earned seven distinctions further enhancing the school’s legacy. The Class of 2024 achieved a remarkable 100% Pass Rate, a 100% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate and an average of three distinctions per student.

  • Reddam House Bedfordview: Students earned 314 distinctions, averaging 2.7 distinctions per student. Other notable achievers are Kent Allan, Matthew Bell, Mirela Hoffman and Mitchell Kathan, who all received eight distinction, and Gino Anic, Madison Ferrão, Yashodhan Naidoo, Muhammad Patel, Zoë Pye, and Kezia Walton who each earned seven distinctions. Exceptional Mathematics results were achieved by Mirela Hoffman (98%) and Muhammel Patel (100%).

  • Reddam House Umhlanga: Ruth Kesene earned 10 distinctions, including 99% for Mathematics, across subjects such as Further Studies: Mathematics Standard, Afrikaans, and Music. Other top achievers include Jean Yu (eight distinctions), and Pirash Baijnath, Shayur Bansee, Walther De Bruin, Yifan Li, Gianna Reddy, and Ramze Williams, each with seven distinctions.

  • Reddam House Constantia: Eight students achieved eight or more distinctions, namely Sofia Bassios, Abigail Bester, Kiara Bester, Luca Canelli, Leila Cornish, Olivia Geddes, Leila Hibling and Julia Monk, with the school boasting exceptional subject averages such as 88% in French and 81% in Visual Arts. Other notable achievers are Tiago Do O’filipe, York Eayrs, Matthew Oakes, and Keira Petersen who each earned seven distinctions.

  • Reddam House Waterfall: The school celebrated eight distinctions from Molebogeng Madalane and seven distinctions by four students: Sahir Dharamlall, Laylah Julie, Luke Mcgee (with 96% for history), and Vashti Pillay.

  • Reddam House Helderfontein: Achieved the best results in the school’s history, including a 100% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate. One student Enzo Andrighetto earned 90% in Mathematics, and Anele Mpofu achieved seven distinctions while leading the school’s outreach programme.

  • Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard: Two students – Dean Avnit and Vincent Bouchard – received seven distinctions each and the school celebrated a standout 99% in French Second Additional Language and a class average of 91% in Dramatic Arts.

  • Reddam House Durbanville: Achieved a class average of 82% in Dramatic Arts, maintaining its strong academic reputation. Luke Abrahamse received seven distinctions, with notable results in Mathematics (95%), Life Orientation (93%), Information Technology (93%) and Life Sciences (91%).

Stories of triumph

While academic excellence defines the Class of 2024, stories of resilience, determination, and leadership provided inspiration to the classmates of these remarkable students:

  • Shreeya Govender, a courageous student from Reddam House Waterfall who has been undergoing dialysis three times a week while awaiting a kidney transplant, achieved a distinction. Her perseverance and determination are a testament to her incredible resilience and drive to succeed.
  • Ruth Kesene from Reddam House Umhlanga, exemplified academic brilliance with 10 distinctions, reflecting a mastery of both sciences and the arts.
  • Anele Mpofu from Reddam House Helderfontein, balanced academic achievement with impactful community outreach, earning seven distinctions.

Celebrating excellence

The achievements of the Reddam House Class of 2024 reflect the commitment to academic distinction, personal growth, and holistic education.
