Minister visits Merensky High School

On 24 January, Merensky High School was privileged to host a Back to School Campaign initiated by Minister Thoko Didiza, minister for agriculture, land reform and rural development.

Minister Didiza was accompanied by the MEC of Education in Limpopo, Ms Polly Boshielo. Other dignitaries were the Mopani Executive Mayor, Clr Pule Shai, the Mayor of Greater Tzaneen, Clr Gerson Malapisane, as well as Ms Phillipine Modika, the Department of Education’s District Director of Mopani West and Mr Felix Nomvela, Tzaneen Circuit Manager.

In her keynote address, Minister Didiza acknowledged Merensky High School as an established agricultural force in the education sector. She encouraged the learners as possible future role players in the agricultural sector to pursue their dreams.

The Minister was also excited by the wish list Agri-Merensky presented, namely to expand by introducing aquaponics, agricultural technology and to present more short courses as well as assist other schools in our area.
During a function at the Agri-Merensky clubhouse, a few learners and staff had the opportunity to converse with the honoured guests.
