Kimberley Boys’ High learners donated blood

Well done to Kimberley Boys’ High School’s brave boys who donated blood. Blood donation is a vital act of generosity that saves lives every day. When you donate, your blood is separated into red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—each of which can help different patients, meaning a single donation can save up to three lives. Blood is needed for trauma cases, surgeries, cancer treatments, and chronic illnesses, so maintaining a steady supply is critical. The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) aims to keep at least five days’ worth of stock for each blood type, but shortages often occur, especially for O+ and B+ blood groups. – SANBS
