How has the team prepared for the season, and what areas of your game have you focused on improving? We’ve been training really hard as a team, working on our fitness, passing, and communication on court. Personally, I’ve been focusing on improving my consistency and staying calm under pressure during games.
What qualities do you think make your team competitive this year? I think our teamwork is one of our biggest strengths. We trust each other, communicate well, and support each other on and off the court, which makes us more competitive.
What does wearing your school’s netball colours mean as a first-team player? Wearing our school’s first team colours really means a lot to me, because I truly feel honoured to represent my school. To show that we worked extremely hard to get here. It motivates me to always give my best.
What makes the netball environment at your school special, and how does it bring the team together? Our netball environment is really positive and supportive. We all have each other’s backs and will never back down. It makes it very easy to play with one another because we know we are supporting each other on and off the court.
What goals has the team set for the upcoming season? Our goal as a team is to improve our way of playing every time we step onto the court. We want to stay strong and encouraged. We want to grow as a team, win our games and enjoy this season together as a team.
Which team fixture are you most looking forward to, and why? I am really looking forward to playing against our rivals because those are the matches that is always exciting. It’s also a wonderful chance to challenge ourselves.
Which professional netball player or sports figure inspires you, and what have you learned from them? I am inspired by Elmeré van der Berg because she is disciplined on and off the court. She knows how to have fun and work as a team. She is an exceptionally good player, and I truly see her as my role model. I learn many skills from how she plays as a goal shooter.
