Fish Hoek High School celebrates Month of the Arts (MOTA). The Arts are alive and well at Fish Hoek High School! The School celebrates May as “Month of the Arts (MOTA)” to create awareness and opportunities around Arts Education. Their programme began in April with the “A Chorus Line – Teen Edition” production and culminates on the 22nd June with “The Music Pot Pourri Concert”.
“Every learner deserves a complete education that includes the Arts. It has always been an important part of our curriculum, crucial to creating well-prepared learners and leaders.” – Mr Steven Joubert, Principal at Fish Hoek High School on the importance of Arts Education.
During MOTA, Fish Hoek High School has offered various visual art and performing arts workshops, performances, talks and assemblies. A highlight of MOTA was the special assembly on the 17th of May with The One Who Sings, aka Zolani Mahola, former lead singer of the supergroup Freshlyground. Zolani is passionate about children, youth, the natural world, and our undeniable connection. She took the learners on an inspirational journey of her creative path through storytelling and music. Exposure to the arts and culture is enormously valuable and the school looks forward to continuing to offer various cultural opportunities that celebrate the Arts and Culture at Fish Hoek High School.
