We look back on our winter sport season for 2022 and share Durban High School’s first teams.

U16A Rugby Team

DHS U16A – U16 Rugby was introduced to DHS in 1995. This is the first DHS U16A Team to not lose a game at home in the history of U16A Rugby for DHS.

  • Scored the most number of tries in a season for DHS U16A – 110 tries.
  • Scored the most amount of points in a season for DHS U16A – 730 points.
  • Conceded the least amount of tries in a season for DHS U16A – 17 tries.
  • Only conceded 4 tries at home – another new record.
  • The best points difference statistic for a DHS U16A Team – 596 points.
  • Recorded the biggest win in DHS’ U16A history against Hilton – 73-0

DHS participated for the first time this year at Wildeklawer which is the best schoolboy Rugby competition in the country – we won both games against Oakdale and Menlopark and were the only team from KwaZulu-Natal to win both of their games. The only DHS U16A Team to win 10 consecutive fixtures in a season.

DHS U16A

According to SA Schoolsports, DHS was ranked as the 6th best Rugby school in the country and number 1 in KZN. These rankings were established by using the combined results of all our A Teams.

DHS U14A Rugby:

DHS U14A – The DHS U14A side were the only team in KwaZulu-Natal to not lose a game locally! The last time a DHS U14A achieved this was in the year of 1991 – 31 years ago!

DHS Hockey:

36, yes, 36 KZN Hockey Representatives for DHS!!! Whilst this announcement is still surreal to the DHS Family, we wish to congratulate our Hockey Coaching Staff who have taken our Hockey Program to the next level.

The announcement that no less than 36 DHS players will be representing KZN in Hockey for 2022 is a testament to the work that our Director of Hockey, Michael Baker and his coaching staff continously do and how they are breaking boundaries, whilst doing everything for our boys. To our boys, all 36 of you, a massive congratulations to all of you on these historic selections. In School’s Hockey history, this is the largest KZN selection of players by an absolute landslide. Along with our historic Craven Week selections, History has now been made for Hockey.
