It was a wonderful privilege for us to be invited to perform at the RMB Starlight Classics in Johannesburg. After a gap of two years because of Covid restrictions, Starlight Classics has brought much needed joy to so many people again! Every show has been packed with memorable highlights and we as Drakies would like to congratulate and thank the entire Starlight Classics team who have been so professional and gone out of their way to make us all feel so welcome! Well done to our boys who kept the Drakensberg Boys Choir School and South African flags flying high over the past few days. We are very proud of you!

Proud Drakies Old boy Darren Hayward (standing on Meester Vaughan van Zyl’s left) is the Director for Starlight Classics. The two were at Drakies together in the early 1980s.

Maestro Richard Cock, seen here with some of the boys, started Starlight Classics in 1998 after being approached to do so by RMB. Drakies has enjoyed a long relationship with Starlight Classics starting in the days when Bunny Ashley-Botha was at the school. He and Richard Cock were contemporaries at Bishops in Cape Town and their friendship lasted until Bunny passed away in 2014.
