On Thursday morning, Volksrust High School radiated with excitement and anticipation as it played host to the prestigious Circuit Awards, a ceremony recognising educational excellence within the Volksrust Circuit. The event unfolded according to a meticulously planned programme, which promised a morning filled with celebration and camaraderie. The proceedings commenced with a soul-stirring invocation by Pastor Venter, setting a tone of reverence and anticipation for the day ahead. Following suit, Ms Marinda Smit, headmaster of Volksrust High School, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, fostering an atmosphere of unity and festivity. The highlight of the morning came with a breathtaking performance by the VHS Choir, who delivered a mesmerising rendition of a Scottish ballad that left the audience spellbound. Their harmonious melodies echoed through the halls, adding a touch of cultural richness to the event and setting the stage for what was to come. As the morning progressed, Mr M.W. Tshabalala graciously acknowledged the esteemed guests in attendance, emphasising the importance of their presence in honouring educational excellence. Labour formations  and sponsors then offered messages of support, underscoring the collaborative effort required to nurture academic achievement. Amidst the anticipation, Chief A.S. Netswera took the stage to deliver a keynote address that resonated deeply with the audience. His words of wisdom and encouragement provided invaluable insight into the transformative power of education.

The highlight of the ceremony came during the presentations segment, led by Mr D.J. Ngwenya, where accolades were bestowed upon the dedicated staff from the circuit and of Volksrust High School. Each staff member received a trophy or certificate, or both, in recognition of their instrumental role in achieving the outstanding matric results of 2023. Volksrust High School was especially honoured for achieving 100% pass at the end of 2023. In addition to the recognition of staff, the ceremony celebrated the achievements of students, with five learners of VHS receiving awards as the Top-5 in the circuit. Several other students were honoured with certificates for their exceptional performance in various subjects, further highlighting the culture of excellence cultivated within the schools. Following the conclusion of the awards ceremony, attendees were treated to a sumptuous lunch prepared by Ms Jana Magudulela and her team. The delectable spread provided the perfect opportunity for guests to mingle and reflect on the morning’s festivities, further cementing the sense of community and pride that permeated throughout the event. As the morning drew to a close and attendees bid farewell, there lingered a palpable sense of pride and inspiration, a testament to the dedication and commitment of all involved in nurturing academic excellence within the Volksrust community.
