Curro Academy Pretoria had a thrilling performance at the GBond Athletics Meet

The highly anticipated Wildeklawer GBond Athletics Meet took place on 28 February 2025 at Curro Hazeldean,
bringing together top athletes for a day of outstanding performances. Competitors from various schools showcased their speed, strength and skills in both track and field events.
The 100m finals were among the most exciting races of the day, with Trevor Mukhando (Curro Soshanguve) dominating the boys u.19 category with a time of 11.00s, while Ofentse Mokwena (Curro Pretoria) took gold in the girls u.19 category with 13.27s. Other notable sprinters included Lebone Phetoe, who won the boys u.17 100m in 11.69s, and Omatla Mashamba (Curro Pretoria), who claimed victory in the girls u.15 100m with 13.53s.
The endurance events also saw impressive performances, with Omphile Mahlaula (Curro Pretoria) winning the boys u.19 3000m in 10:53.28, while Langelihle Mkhize took first place in the girls u.19 3000m with a time of 7:06.18.
The field events were just as competitive, with Lihle Hlulani excelling in the boys u.19 long jump, reaching 6.15m, and Nyiko Manganyi dominating the boys u.15 long jump with an incredible leap of 7.86m. In the throwing events, Yoanda Nekhwevha secured gold in the girls u.17 shot put with a distance of 8.34m, while Debora Muteba (Curro Pretoria) impressed in the girls u.14 shot put with a throw of 8.28m.
The relays brought the meet to an exciting close, with teams pushing their limits for victory. The 4x100m relays saw thrilling finishes as athletes worked together to cross the finish line first, showcasing both teamwork and speed.
The Wildeklawer G-Bond Athletics Meet proved to be an electrifying event, with athletes delivering personal bests and setting new benchmarks for future competitions. Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and outstanding performance.
