On Saturday the Dundee High School under 15 cricket team played against Pionier High School in the final of the Northern KZN schools cricket league. The game started in cloudy, overcast conditions. It had rained the previous day and this led to an extremely lively pitch. Pionier batted first and were restricted to 166 in their 30 overs by some excellent bowling and fielding by the Dundee players. After lunch, with the sun shining bright and hot, Dundee went in to bat but were dismissed 33 runs short of their target. The game was played in excellent spirit by both sides and we look forward to a rematch next season. We would like to thank Mr Lippke, Mr Wessels and Mr van der Merwe for all their hard work and time spent with the team throughout the season.
Our first cricket team played in the NKZN league-finals against LHS on Saturday, excellent bowling from LHS and difficult playing conditions restricted the team to 100 all out, top run scorers were Gideon Nel with 24 and Tayrees du Preez with 21. Our bowlers fought back hard but unfortunately we did not have enough runs to defend, LHS won with 4 wickets. Dillan Guelpa was the best bowler with 3 wickets. Hein Muller, Kiandri Bierbaum and Stuart Talanda took 1 wicket each.
