Crawford International Sandton Tournament of Minds 2024 Celebrating Success

On the 11th and 12th of September, Crawford International Sandton talented team of six students participated in the 2024 Tournament of Minds, an inter-school competition that fosters creative problem-solving and teamwork. We are thrilled to share the remarkable achievements they accomplished during this event!
Challenge Overview Our team faced two distinct challenges throughout the tournament:
- Language Literature Challenge: The team was tasked with a captivating project involving the beloved fictional character, The Lorax. They created an engaging narrative around a sudden plot twist that needed to be added to a new biography being released about him. Through two weeks of dedicated effort, the students collaboratively planned, wrote, crafted props, and filmed a creative solution that showcased their literary and artistic talents. Their hard work paid off, and they emerged as the overall winners in this challenge!
- Spontaneous Challenge: This challenge tested the students’ ability to think on their feet. Given a scenario titled “The Colour Purple,” they faced a mysterious purple sign that read “Do Not Enter.” In just four minutes, they brainstormed potential reasons for the sign’s color choice and speculated on what it might be guarding. Although this was an unprepared challenge requiring quick collaboration and communication, our team excelled and proudly placed in the Top 5 among all high schools!
