Camps Bay High School excels in 2022 NSC Matric exams.

Camps Bay High School Principal, Mr. Louis Mostert, was presented with two awards at Tuesday night’s prestigious Metro Central Education District 2022 NSC Awards Ceremony.

• The school is one of only 16 schools with more than 30 learners (out of 86 schools in the district) that obtained a 100% pass rate in 2022.
• The school was also one of a handful of schools in the Metro Central Education District to receive an award for Consistency in both Mathematics and Physical Sciences with an over 80% pass rate with 20 learners or more.

In addition, Camps Bay High School’s Head Prefect and Gush Dux Scholar for 2022, Nishaat Williams, was awarded one of the Top Honours at the Ceremony – going home with an Award for one of the top learners in the Metro Central Education District achieving 85% or more.  Nishaat achieved an aggregate of 90.7% and 7 distinctions in the 2022 NSC Matric Exams.

Three of Camps Bay High School’s learners received the Awards for Top in Subject in the District:

Casey Bloomberg was the Top Learner in Dance Studies in the Metro Central Education District. Casey achieved 99% for Dance and was also the No. 2 Dance Studies learner in the Western Cape.

Thuwaybah Bassier was the Top Learner in Dramatic Arts in the Metro Central Education District. She achieved 97% for Dramatic Arts.

Helena Laubscher was the Top Learner in Consumer Studies in the Metro Central Education District. Helena achieved 89% for Consumer Studies.

Said Camps Bay High School Principal, Mr. Louis Mostert, “I am incredibly proud of our results in the 2022 NSC Matric Exams.  There were some great individual achievements for some of our learners, but more importantly, our entire Class of 2022 achieved excellent results. We were well above the provincial average in most of our subjects.”

Some of the top performances per subject department were:

• History was 33% above the Provincial average with the final Class average of 80%. This is the fifth year in a row that the CBHS History Department has achieved a Class average of over 80%. The CBHS History Department was 10th in the Western Cape and 4th in the Metro Central District for number of Subject A’s. A total of 43 distinctions or 61% were earned by the History Class.
• Dance Studies was 20% above the Provincial average with the final Class average of 85%. Casey Bloomberg was 1st in the Metro Central Education District and 2nd in the Western Cape. Lola Erasmus was 5th in the Western Cape.
• Dramatic Arts was 12% above the Provincial average with a final Class average of 80.4%. Camps Bay HIgh School placed 18th in the province. Thuwaybah Bassier was 1st in the Metro Central Education District in Dramatic Arts with a mark of 97% and Anan Viljoen Ventura was third with a mark of 97%. Thuwaybah shared 5th position in Western Cape and Anan shared 6th position in Western Cape.
• Math’s Literacy was 18% above the Provincial average and was 20th in the Western Cape.
• Geography and Life Sciences were both 17% above the Provincial average.
• Accounting was 14% above the Provincial average with 21% of learners earning distinctions.
• Economics was 14% above the Provincial average.
• Business Studies was 13% above the Provincial average and was 20th in the Province for Number of Distinctions earned.
• Consumer Studies was 10% above the Provincial average with Helena Laubscher the Top Learner in Subject in the Metro Central District.
• English, Math’s and Physical Sciences were all 10% above the Provincial average.
