The St Dominics Newcastle Junior and Senior Primary choirs participated in the ‘Sing in Harmonie’ choir competition on Tuesday, May 10 that was hosted in the school’s Douthwaite Centre. Head of Culture, Jeanne de Heer, explained that this competition focuses on the joy of singing and promoting the development of our youths’ voices.
“The country’s best then gets chosen to participate in the finals,” confirmed de Heer. “Our Junior Primary participated in their first ever performance, and even though the nerves where high they made us all so proud!” De Heer said the SP choir performance was ‘absolutely superb’, and said it was with a proud heart she was able to announce the choir had qualified for the finals.
This will be held at Woodhill College in Pretoria on September 24 and 25. “This is an outstanding achievement, and we would like to congratulate every learner who participated. We thank them for all the hard work and effort that they put into bringing this performance to life!” concluded de Heer. Well done and congratulations to the learners and teachers!
